Glenn Close: After completely falling in love with Glenn’s look at the Oscars this year, I was excited to see what she would wear to the Emmys. The “Damages” actress wore a Bibhu Mohapatra printed long-sleeve mermaid gown with black sheer draped panels at the skirt and all over sharp details layered throughout the rest. I may have felt differently about the dress on someone else, but it did absolutely nothing for me on Glenn. She accessorized with a pair of satin “Anya” sandals by Dana Davis.
Gretchen Mol: Unless you’re wearing black (or black-and-white), you run a risk wearing a monochrome look on the red carpet. At least if it’s all the same shade of one color. I’m surprised with how much I loved what Gretchen wore. The “Boardwalk Empire” actress stunned in her strapless 1970s Valentino haute couture gown from RARE Vintage. Gretchen accessorized with a matching satin clutch and Christian Louboutin illusion “Bow Bow” sandals before beautifully finishing off her look with curly tresses and diamond jewelry.
Melissa McCarthy: She’s not only talented at acting — Melissa could have a carrier in design! The “Mike & Molly” actress was lovely in a black textured gown that she designed with her friend Daniele Kurrle. She added some edge to the look with a gold studded black from Burberry and finished off with dazzling diamond jewelry by Chopard. Melissa wore a pair of white diamond chandelier earrings (24 carats), featuring over 55 fancy shaped diamonds set in platinum.
Mindy Kaling: The color and cut of Mindy’s St. John dress is stunning on her, but that’s about all I can say because it didn’t look like it really fit her around the bust. I think she needed something with sleeves to flatter her upper arm area. As for everything else, Mindy’s cascading waves were pretty and I loved her gold Cathy Waterman jewelry. She accessorized with a cool Mettle belt and a pair of Doo.Ri heels before topping off her look with dark berry lips.
Julia Ormond: The “Mad Men” star dazzled in a beautiful long-sleeve black gown by Lorena Sarbu, which featured sparkling embellishments along the sheer neck, sleeves and cuffs. Because the dress was busy, Julia simply wore her hair up in a ponytail, accessorized with small diamond jewels and topped it all off with a matching embellished clutch.
Rita Wilson: Joined by her husband Tom Hanks (who took home the award for Outstanding Miniseries or TV Movie award for “Game Change”) Rita wore a short sleeved black gown with embellishing along the bodice. She styled her hair in a sleek ponytail and accessorized with long black earrings, a matching pair of open toe sandals, an embroidered clutch and diamond cuff bracelet. She looked good.
Kelli Garner: Yellow was so huge at the Emmys this year! Claire Danes, Julie Bowen, Kaley Cuoco and Leslie Mann all wore various shades of the sunny color — along with Kelli. I found her draped gown with a asymmetrical knotted straps to be so interesting. I loved the sash element at her skirt. She wore her hair partially gathered with a lot of volume before finishing off with silver Jimmy Choo “Lance” sandals.
Betsy Brandt: The “Breaking Bad” star wore an ocean blue duchesse satin strapless evening gown with side bow at waist from the David Meister Signature collection. I didn’t really like how Betsy’s silver glitter pointed toe pumps peek out so much at the hem, a sandal or smaller point would have been more flattering. She wore her hair up to show off her clear quartz over green onyx earrings from Tacori. Betsey also wore a matching ring and bangle.
Mayim Bialik: After a horrible car accident this summer, Mayim was all smiles and in good spirits this weekend when she attended the Emmys wearing a beautiful dark red gown. The “Big Bang Theory” star collaborated with Pamella Roland to create the gown, which featured a draped neck, sheer sleeves and pin-tucking at the waist. She finished off her look with an ornate minaudière and a layered neckline. Mayim is also wearing nail polish from Zoya.
Maria Menounos: Selecting an eco-couture gown for her Emmy night, Maria wore a Grecian blue strapless gown by Oliver Tolentino with a sweetheart draped bodice and raw-edged finish along with a draped skirt with a high slit. This one-of-a-kind dress was hand-woven useing fiber from pineapple leaves. Maria flawlessly finished off with a high ponytail, green ornate earrings and ankle strap pewter sandals.
Christine Baranski: What on Earth? This isn’t the Video Music Awards, so I’m completely baffled as to why Christine wore a micro-mini gold embellished long-sleeved zebra pattern dress to the Emmys. The dress isn’t flattering for her in the least and the matching pointed toe pumps didn’t compliment.
Archie Panjabi: The turquoise color looked fantastic on Archie, but the dress was a bit too “prom” for me. Her make-up was flawless and I liked her hairstyle. The Emmy-nominated actress finished off her look with dazzling diamond jewelry from Chopard. She wore a pair of circular diamond drop earrings (10 carats) featuring over 80 white diamonds set in 18k white gold, and an emerald cut diamond ring (3 carats) set in a micro-pave and platinum band.
Martha Plimpton: The “Raising Hope” actress selected her second Christian Siriano gown this week! Martha wore a custom-made halterneck nude-and-black lace gown, but I wish she had this to the Creative Emmy Awards last Sunday. I feel like her Fall 2012 gown from last week would have been a better Emmy look for her.
Brooke Burke: The “Dancing with the Stars” co-host dazzled in a beautiful crystal and bead-embroidered gown from Tony Ward Couture ‘s Fall 2012/13 collection, which was arranged in a pretty feather pattern. Brooke finished off her look with over $2 million worth of Norman Silverman diamonds, including a hair accessory and a 14ct emerald cut ring.
Anna Chlumsky: Like Martha and Christina Hendricks, the “Veep” actress also selected a gown from designer Christian Siriano. Anna looked beautiful in her lace v-neck grey gown and silver open toe Stuart Weitzman sandals. Anna wore her long hair up to show off dazzling Neil Lane drop earrings before topping off her look with light make-up and a black Judith Leiber clutch.
Shaun Robinson: The “Access Hollywood” beauty looked amazing in a red gown by Ronald Abdala, which featured draped detail at right side with a flap element over her left shoulder. Shaun balanced out her look with a side-gathered hairstyle, diamond jewels and a matching pair glittered platform sandals.
Lara Spencer: Looking beautiful in blue the “Good Morning America” correspondent rocked a one shoulder gown by Badgley Mischka, which featured a high slit to show off the black open toe pumps that matched the embroidered cap-sleeve detail at her left shoulder.
Cat Deeley: The “So You Think You Can Dance” host glowed in bright coral for her Emmys look. Cat selected an asymmetric single-shoulder mermaid gown by Tadashi Shoji. She accessorized with rose gold diamond jewelry before topping off her look with a Bulgari pattern minaudière.
